Design, Think, Learn:
Training Teachers and Schools

Continuing Professional Development

Whilst completing research for my Masters, it became evident that teachers of all experiences can feel anxious about teaching design and technology.  And we understand why. Safety, organisation, ideas, resources and confidence are key issues raised through my research which has been published at the Faculty of Education and at an international conference.

That doesn't mean teachers don't want to teach the subject, they'd just like confidence and support. At Design, Think, Learn we can provide that in person classroom support.

Empower your staff to confidently deliver high-quality Design and Technology lessons through our professional development opportunities.

We offer tailored training and consultancy sessions to equip educators with the necessary skills to effectively teach the Design and Technology curriculum. These sessions, categorized as Continuing Professional Development (CPD), can be scheduled as INSET days, full days, half days, or twilight sessions, catering to various preferences and schedules.

Our offerings include:
- Hands-on practical skills sessions, where staff gain experience with a variety of tools and materials leading to the creation of final products.
- Curriculum planning for Design and Technology, tailored to the needs of the entire school or specific staff/key stages.
- Effective leadership in Design and Technology, ideal for designated leaders within schools.
- In-depth explorations into Design and Technology, suitable for designated leaders and Senior Leadership Teams (SLT) within schools.

For those preferring online sessions, we are fully equipped to accommodate remote training and consultancy, allowing participation from anywhere in the world.

Testimonial

DT was a focus for improvement as staff confidence in teaching it was low and observations had shown that staff did not fully understand the DT cycle. Richard's training gave staff a renewed enthusiasm for teaching DT. They now fully understand the DT cycle, projects and lessons are well planned and sequenced. They know where to access resources . The quality of DT provision has increased across the school. Pupils have engaged in a range of projects including electronics, programming, woodwork and textiles. Children's enjoyment of the subject has also improved .
